Free Living

This nest was in a large Oak on the Orchardleigh golf course. When the tree came down a nest was found inside it. The nest was cut out from the tree and left by the side of the course where the bees still live now.

They will need a little extra protection as they have a hole in the roof, but they are doing well despite the trauma they have experienced.

I am told there are many colonies on the estate. Ancient oak trees, including dead ones fill the golf course and surrounding park land. It's a beautiful golf course, estate and house.
