Free Living

We have a nest, about 20 ft. up, in a poplar tree in the garden. The nest has been in the tree since 2017. That's when I first took a photo of them,(date as recorded in the meta data). The bees seem quite happy to be there, undisturbed and we are happy to have them. The image I have attached was taken in 2018 when they were quite active. A reddish substance appeared to be leaking out of the nest onto the tree at that time.. They did get quite active about a week ago and started bearding but have calmed down again now.
