This classy ventilation duct with heated walls all year round has been inhabited for decades. It is an elementary school and kindergarten and the bees and kids are getting along fabulously.

This year the colony cast three swarms which landed in the kindergarten at eye level with the kids which were joyfully dancing around them offering flowers and water. An adult wanted to collect the swarms but the kids verdict was clear: the bees must not be captured - they are to remain free.

I read the scouts dances and told the teachers where the swarms now live. A few weeks later, I saw a kid with its parents visiting one of the swarms at their new home.

Never before have I witnessed such an untainted harmony between humans and honey bees.
