Around 2006, openings for bats were created in the castle chapel. At the same time, a barn owl nesting box was installed. Its opening coincides with the opening in the façade above the red door. The box was not occupied as expected by an owl but by a swarm of bees. The nest is occupied by bees since many years, maybe 10 years or more. I began to observe the colony in February 2021.
